Travis King, the first known American detained in North Korea, was on his journey back to Fort Bliss, Texas, shortly after serving a sentence of imprisonment in South Korea for assault, but walked into North Korea while taking an overview of the bordering hamlet of Panmunjom with a group of civilians.
