Younger brother of Tottenham Hotspur’s player Serge Aurier has been killed in Toulouse, a city in France, reported by authorities on Monday. Christopher Aurier was shot dead while he was reported to be at a club in the city, according to local media.
News reports said that the suspect has fled from the scene, an information shared by an unidentified source familiar with the matter. The brother of Premier League player died in the Toulouse University Hospital after being rushed there.
As CNN reported, the victim, who is 26 years old, was said to have wounds around his stomach. He was shot at 5 am estimated time in an industrial area in the outskirts of the city. Local media stated that the incident occurred just outside a night establishment. Locals called in for help when they discovered Christopher on the ground with wounds on his abdomen.
According to Serge’s football team Tottenham Hotspur, they are disheartened by the tragic news. In a statement, they expressed their full support for their athlete. As per their statement, “The club is deeply saddened to confirm media reports that Serge Aurier’s brother passed away in the early hours of this morning.
The European team also said: “We are supporting Serge at this difficult time and we ask that the privacy of the player and his family is respected. Everybody at the club sends their sincerest condolences to Serge and his family. Our thoughts are with them all.
Serge, a year older than Christopher, plays for the Hotspurs since 2017, an English football team under the Premier League, as a right back. His deceased younger brother was also into sports, competing in local football games as an amateur for the fifth division of Toulouse Rodeo.
